Carmen's Lace Creations

Take An Inside Look

The Jr. Designer program literally began with a bag of laces. When 11-year-old Carmen went to see the Chicago Air and Water Show a few years ago, we sent her off to Chicago’s Oak Street Beach with a bag of plastic colored laces, a bunch of beads and other materials to make arts and crafts projects. Carmen and her sister had a lot of fun making friendship bracelets and other arts and crafts, but found in their fervor to create cool jewelry and key chains, their laces were getting all tangled up.

So when we asked Carmen to share ideas about her crafting experience with our laces, she came up with an idea to organize the laces together with her arts and crafts materials. She actually drew a systemized case with individual compartments for each component. We provided her with our laces, beads and arts and crafts items, and she devised a way to make them even better. VoilĂ ! Our first Jr. Designer was BORN!

Our "Jr. Designers" play a key role in the development and design of these arts and crafts kits. The Jr. Designers are helping to create really cool kits – for kids by kids! Our Jr. Designer series is all about working with young creative inventors who help make arts and crafts kits totally kid friendly. They talk; we listen. Together we create.

And with Carmen, we created Carmen's Lace Creations. The kit lets you make a lot of cool stuff, including bracelets and key chains. It comes with beads, key chain rings, lanyard hooks, swivel hooks, a project booklet and lots and lots of laces!
